Quercus agrifolia, Coast Live Oak. This tree is the Gordon Hampton Oak, named for a student sentry who sounded the alarm enabling fellow students to defend the Big Game bonfire Pyre from Cal students. A plaque beneath the tree tells how Gordon Hampton "saved the day". Located at Galvez and East Campus Drive.
